Stream collects almost nothing. Here is exactly what.

Stream is built so your photos stay in your storage and AI runs on your device. This policy explains the few data flows that do exist, in plain language. Last updated: September 20, 2026.

What we do not collect

  • No account or registration — Stream has no Stream-side user account.
  • No photo uploads to us — your originals never pass through Stream servers.
  • No advertising — no ads SDKs, no advertising IDs, no cross-app tracking.
  • No data sale — we never sell or rent personal data to anyone.

Data that does leave your device

Your photos and connected servers

Stream is a management interface for photo libraries that live on your device and on servers you own — WebDAV, S3, FTP, Immich, and PhotoPrism. Scanning, thumbnails, metadata, deduplication, and album edits are processed on your device. Server addresses and credentials you enter are stored locally on your device only, and requests go directly from your device to your servers.

On-device AI search

Semantic photo search runs entirely on your device. If you enable it, the app downloads open-source AI models (for example SigLIP2 or CLIP, fetched from huggingface.co or a mirror) at your request. Your search queries, image indexes, and results are never sent to us or to any third party.

Crash diagnostics (optional, on by default, can be turned off)

To find and fix crashes, the app can send crash reports and key error events to Sentry (sentry.io). This is controlled by the "Help improve Stream" setting in the app and can be turned off at any time. Personally identifiable information is disabled: no IP address, no user identifiers, and no content of your photos is included. Only technical crash data (stack traces, device and OS model, app version) is sent.

Purchases and subscriptions

Stream+ subscriptions are processed entirely by Google Play (or the App Store on iOS). We never see your payment details. The app receives only your entitlement status (whether an active subscription exists) from the store.

Update check (test builds only)

Versions of Stream installed outside an app store may check a Stream update server for newer test builds. Builds distributed through Google Play do not perform this check.

Photos and videos

Used to browse, organize, deduplicate, and (only at your explicit request) delete items in your local library.

Network access

Used to talk directly to the servers you configure, download AI models you request, process store purchases, and send crash reports if you leave them enabled.

Notifications and background work

Used to show scan and processing progress. No marketing notifications are sent.

Storage and retention

Your library data (sources, credentials, marks, albums, caches, and AI indexes) lives in local app storage on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes it. Data on your own servers stays under your control and is governed by your own hosting arrangements.

Children

Stream is a general-audience photo management tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app release notes.
